Maldives
A serene round island in the deep south, wrapped by one of the country's best house reefs.
Hadahaa sits far south in Gaafu Alifu (North Huvadhoo) Atoll, well away from the busy central islands, on a small circular island you can walk in twenty minutes. The roughly 50 villas are quiet and natural in feel — timber, stone and muted tones rather than gloss — and the whole place leans low-key and grown-up.
Its real distinction is underwater: the house reef is steps from the shore and consistently rated among the finest in the Maldives, which makes it a snorkeller's and diver's island first. Service is warm and unforced, and the southern location keeps crowds and boat traffic to a minimum.
Divers and snorkellers, and couples wanting a quiet, natural island with a superb house reef
You want quick access from Malé, big-resort facilities or polished glamour
An Overwater Villa for direct reef access; Park Villas for beach and space
November–April for the driest, clearest water
A domestic flight to Kooddoo, then roughly a 35-minute speedboat
Calm and understated; relaxed island dining with the reef as the main event
Paltino arranges the southern domestic flight and boat connection, an overwater villa over the best of the reef, and guided diving or snorkelling with the marine team.
